Sarah Sewall

Executive Vice President for Strategic Issues, In-Q-Tel

Dr. Sarah Sewall is Executive Vice President for Strategic Issues at In-Q-Tel, where she brings a geopolitical perspective to assessing technology innovation. She served as U.S. Under Secretary of State under President Obama, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense in the Clinton Administration, and Senior Foreign Policy Advisor to Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell. Dr. Sewall taught at the Harvard Kennedy School for nearly a decade, where she also directed the Carr Center for Human Rights Policy. She served on the Defense Policy Board under Secretaries Gates and Hagel. She graduated from Harvard College and received her doctorate from Oxford University, where she was a Rhodes Scholar.
